For the last year, Adidas’ Stan Smith sneakers have been an inescapable fashion trend worn by bloggers and street style stars, then copied by big luxury brands like Isabel Marant and Saint Laurent. While the retro sneaker trend shows no signs of slowing down, there’s another classic that might just knock Stan Smiths off of their fashion pedestal: the Adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged White Navy Blue
The Nike Cortez silhouette was finalised in 1968, coinciding with the Mexico Olympics, and originally was to be named the ‘Aztec’ after the sporting event. Meanwhile however, Adidas had developed a new style to be named the ‘Azteca Gold’ and so after much reconsideration the name Adidas NMD R1 Womens Grey And White Blue was adopted. This was in honour of the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes who invaded south America in 1519, causing the fall of the Aztec empire. Cortez then became a rather apt name for this new trainer, daring to rival Adidas, just as Cortes had taken on the Aztecs.
Originally released in 1972, the Air Max Sequent 2 Black And White Volt Hyper Jade was the first “modern” running shoe, designed by Olympic track coach, Bill Bowerman. It was created to be a comfortable running shoe that helped with long distances and rough terrain and was first launched during the 1972 Olympics.Since its conception, the Cortez has remained an icon, most recognisably in the Academy Award Winning film Forrest Gump. The character receives the classic trainers as a gift and then goes on the run across the length and breadth of America (we do not recommend this) but we are pretty sure this helped the Cortez fly off the shelves.
Debuting during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, the Adidas Alphabounce Em Recensioni became an unmistakable icon, worn by team USA, as the first track shoe designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman. Bowerman, an Olympic-class track coach himself, imagined a performance track shoe lighter and more comfortable than any other shoe available at the time.
He felt that athletes needed a weatherproof and durable running shoe designed for distance, training, and road running. It was that simple idea that spawned the silhouette that became one of the most significant aspect to the success of Nike, Inc. Putting unprecedented cushioning under the fastest feet in the running world, and thriving with the urban scenes of Los Angeles, the New Balance 580 Deconstructed Mid Sneakerboot quickly became the most popular training shoe in the country.
